  • Teacher, teacher!, may i ask you a question?
  • Alright kids, when you Finish reading the paragraph, start solving your homework or ask me any questions.
  • Go ahead, John!
  • While reading, i noticed that the population of rabbits grew very fast within just one year. however, the population of deer grew steadily within a few years, how could that be?
  • That's a great question john! to answer it we must first understand Exponential growth and logistic growth
  • When a population has an abundant amount of resources; such as food and water, it will have the opportunity to grow rapidly and produce in a very short period of time, this is called Exponential growth
  • What about the other type?
  • However, What you saw with the deer is called logistic growth. Logistic growth is when a population begins with a period of slow growth followed by a brief period of exponential growth before leveling off at a stable size. This is due to availability of resources at the beginning and the reduction of them over time, causing the population to slow in producing.
