- A group of four cats, three orange and one brown, had established a new population, isolatingthem from the original group. The founder effect has started with asmall group had splintered off and started their own colony. The gene pool has become smaller as the alleles of the cats have been reduced to the few the new population has.

This new population drastically differs from the original group due to the results of a chance event that caused isolation tooccurred(Genetic drift).
