- How Did Texas Become A State of The U.S
- Texas belonged to Mexico but Americans lived there but they had to follow there laws. The people became unhappy because they had to start paying taxes in Mexico. They did not allow slaves and they had to be catholic no other religions aloud.
- During War
- Mexico wins independence from Spain in 1821, Stephan F. Austin was starting his own colony in Mexico. Stephan F. Austin brought 300 families to Mexican Texas in 1825. The colony success bring more settlers from the U.S. Soon Americans out numbered the Teganos 6-1.
- After War
- Yay it's finally over!!
- Americans began settling on Mexico's northern border. But, they all retain to be United states customs. Most in Texas wanted to be annexed to the U.S, after much debate in the U.S, Texas was annexed in 1845.
- Result of War
- Yay this will help us reach our goal!!!
- Mexico still considered it part of their country. They wanted their part of land back, so they declared a war on America.
- That's still part of our country!!!
- The United States forces won and then they gained New Mexico, California, and Northern Mexico as part of their territory. The war lasted for only 20 months.
- Victory helped the United States reach the goal of the Manifest Destiny.
