  • Trappers equipment was normally a riding saddle, bridle, sack containing six beaver traps, blanket, an extra pair of Moccasins, powder horn, bullet pouch, belt, butcher knife, small wooden box with beaver bait, and Tobacco. The Mountain men wore, a flannel or cotton shirt, leather breeches, blanket or smoked Buffalo sink, leggings, a coat, and Moccasins.
  • Challenges of the seasons
  • Trappers would travel in brigades of 40 to 60 but the tended to split up into groups of 2 or 3 men. Mountain men would go out during spring and fall or when ever the weather agreed. Finally, each group had camp tenders and meat hunters. 
  • During the summer the Mountain men would go to an open spot in the wilderness and would trade pelts and supplies. They turned it into a rendezvous into a normal thing during July.
  • Some of the challenges of the seasons was that the Mountain men would have to deal with the Indian people, Wild animals such as grizzly bears, dehydration and starvation, cold weather and burning hot weather. Also, the Mountain men didn't use clocks or calender's but the time depended on what the weather was bringing them and that decided when they would go out.
