  • Pelias Takes the Throne
  • Jason Helps Hera
  • Jason returns to Ioclus and Receives a Quest
  • Pelias, the evil half-brother of Aeson, the king of Ioclus, overthrew Aeson and killed all of his children but Jason. Jason, on the premise of being stillborn, was sent to Chiron the Centaur who was nurtured into adulthood. Pelias learned from an oracle that he should be wary of a man with one sandal from the country.
  • The Argonauts land on Lemnos
  • Fully grown, Jason returns to Ioclus to attend some games held by Pelias in honor of Poseidon. During his travel home, he lost one of his sandals in the river Anaurus while helping a disguised Hera cross. Hera hated Pelias so she blessed Jason and turned him into an instrument that would plan to bring about Pelias' demise in the future.
  • King Phineus and the HarpiesThe Argonauts reach Colchis
  • Jason appeared in front of Pelias and said that he was the rightful heir of Aeson. Pelias asked Jason what he would do if he met the man that would bring about his death. Jason said that he would tell the man to fetch the Golden Fleece. Pelias did just that, telling Jason that once he brought back the Golden Fleece to Ioclus, he would step down from the throne. Jason agreed, and he built a ship called the "Argo", and he got a party of heroes called the "Argonauts."
  • Jason and MedeaThe Impossible tasks
  • After the Argonauts set sail, for Colchis they first reached the island of Lemnos. Ruled by Hypsipyle, the island was inhabited only by women, as they had previously killed off their husbands. The argonauts stayed for a while on Lemnos, sleeping with the women of the island and creating a new race, the Minyans. Jason had at least one child with Hypsipyle, Euneus.
  • The Argonauts happened upon blind King Phineus, who was starved almost to death. Zeus had ordered the Harpies, vicious monsters, to steal his food on a daily basis. The Argonauts chased away the harpies and Phineus revealed the location of Colchis. The Argo arrived in Colchis, and they met King Aeetes, the owner of the Golden Fleece.
  • Aeetes said that he would give the fleece to Jason if he did a few seemingly impossible tasks in the course of one day. Before doing the tasks, the daughter of Aeetes and sorceress Medea fell in love with Jason and they were married. The tasks included plowing a field with fire-breathing bulls and fighting stone warriors. Medusa helped Jason complete the tasks with her magic. Medea joined the Argonauts and they grabbed the fleece, got on the Argo, and sailed away from Colchis.
