- COMPARISON I am comparing the crow, Moses from Animal Farm to the Russian Orthodox Church. The Russian Orthodox Church had a small but prominent part in the Russian Revolution. Much like Moses had a small part in Animal Farm. George Orwell made the connection of the name Moses the character from the person in the Bible.. Prior to the Revolution, Russia and the Church had a swell connection. In the novel, Moses leaves the story for years at a time. Much like the church separated from the state when there was crisis such as the tsarist government collapsing. Moses would tell stories and share beliefs much like the church would preach their values.
