Texto del Guión Gráfico

  • The author says on page 15 of paragraph 1 that "vacant eye like windows" shows the condition of the windows of how they are destroyed and in bad shape. This contributes to the story because it compares to the Usher's eyes since they are also in bad condition because of his mental illness and all that is going on.
  • Personification
  • On page 15, paragraph 5, the author states that "perceptible fissure which, extending from the roof of the building in front, made its way down the wall in a zigzag direction." This contributes to the text because the crack symbolizes the Usher family, Usher and his sister and when they are seperated by death and the crack is what isolates the existing home after they die.
  • Symbolism
  • On page 31 of paragraph 48, the Usher mentions that "sleep came not near my couch," implying that he is unable to sleep. This contributes to the text because he is unable to sleep, which is why he says, "while the hours waned and waned away" with everything going on, including the damage to his house and his sister's illness.
  • "sleep came not near my couch- while the hours waned and waned away."
  • Metaphor
  • The narrator describes his shock when he witnessed the home struck by lightning and vanished on page 31 paragraph 48. This part of the story adds to the text by demonstrating how the Usher house vanished and crumbled into pieces, bringing the Usher family's end.
  • "the entire orb of the satellite burst at once upon my sight-my brain reeled as I saw the mighty walls rushing asunder"
  • Imagery
  • In page 15 paragraph 2, the Usher is getting ready to send the narrator his letter "the writer spoke of acute body illness which opressed him and of an earnest desire to see me, as his best and indeed his only personal friend." This has an impact on the story because if the Usher had never written the narrator a letter saying how miserable he was in his own home , the narrator wouldn't have seen him in the first place.
  • Irony
  • In paragraph 11 page 19, Usher says he must "perish this deplorable folly" meaning that Usher accepts his fate. This is beneficial to the text since he is accepting his fate finally and what is going on. He fears his own house and informs the narrator that he is nervous and afraid.
  • "I shall perish.." said he, "I must perish this deplorable folly."
  • Foreshadowing
