- There is too many people on this small island. How will we feed everyone?? How will we survive?
- I can't leave my house! I don't have any suitable clothes because I had to leave so quickly. I'm so embarrassed.
- The French really wanted the Acadians who lived in Nova Scotia to move to PEI. Eventually the Acadians realized the French were probably right. They thought this because there was an extreme increase of English soldiers who showed up with guns. PEI's population grew, quadrupling in size in the first couple years. There was an immense increase of farmers, and as the population grew, it caused people to live very close together and made them want to start exploring and clearing land.
- Crops Fail
- OH NOOO!!! Our wheat! Everything! Look! It's SPOILED! DEAD! GONE! What will we eat??
- Oh sh*t. This is the worst time this could possibly happen. We need our food to survive!
- The British deported what they thought was all of the Acadians from Nova Scotia to the Atlantic Coast. The Acadians said that they would not pick sides but when General Lawrence found a large group of them fighting with the French it caused him to deport them all right away. The British even filled up ships with Acadian farmers and sent them along the Atlantic Coast. They only caught and deported 3/5 of the Acadians, the remaining 2/5 were able to flee and escape.

- I can't believe we have to leave. How unfair is this! I sure am going to miss this place.
- This really does suck, but I'm so happy Rollo allowed us to keep our kids with us all safe as a family. At least we had time to pack some clothes.
- The Seven Years War started by 1756 which caused PEI's population to increase like crazy, as many people were coming to the island. There was too many people living on the island and not enough food to keep everyone happy, healthy, or even alive. Most people were in such a rush to leave that they only had the clothes on their backs, some didn't even have that. Because of this, people were scared to leave their house because they were so ashamed they couldn't cover themselves up.
- Hundreds of People Die on Ships and in France

- At least this is a better way to die than slowly being killed by a strange disease...
- As if there wasn't enough going wrong, the crops failed in 1756 and 1757 which just made matters so much worse. The weather was not in their favor and caused the crops to die, and insects were also part of the problem. People were scared and hungry, and there was just too many bodies with no food to survive off of. The whole population was worried because back then everyone relied on crops to be harvested as their main source of nutrition, and they needed it now more than ever.
- The British took Louisbourg for the second time and absolutely ruined it. Villejouin and his priests then asked Lord Rollo if they could stay on PEI, but when Rolla sent someone to ask General Amherst they said it was a hard no. With that answer, Rollo made the deportation begin. Rollo was a much kinder and sympathetic man than Lawrence, and so he tried to keep the people as happy as he could by making sure families stayed together and gave them enough time to either pack or run away.
- Rollo did his best to ensure better conditions for the people getting deported, but the whole situation was still pretty terrible. Disease was a huge issue on the boats and many of the younger and older passengers died because of it. Two ships ended up sinking on their way to France, so many more people died then. Once the remaining Acadians reached France, the dying didn't end. Due to the horrendous conditions in the refugee camps, hundreds more died to new and unwelcome diseases.
