  • Peasants were displaced and forced to provide cheap labor by Porfirio and the upper class were excluded from the political system which gave both classes something to be happy about when a new president was elected...
  • After decades of liberal and economic reforms and encouraging foreign capitalists to invest in our country to control much of our land. I regret to inform you I will be stepping down from my role as president. I know everyone will be very sad
  • Francisco Madero
  • After Francisco Madero, member of an elite northern family, was elected in 1910, he was imprisoned by Porfirio who refused to surrender the presidency
  • Never mind
  • If I became president I would have thrown the usurpers from power, recover the rights of all Mexicans, and bring back the heritage of glory our ancestors left us!
  • Madero fled to San Antonio Texas where he received support of a diverse array of revolutionary forces as well as completing the Plan de San Luis Potosi: a condemnation of the Mexican oligarchy and a a call to arms in defense of freedom.

  • During the long revolution the Mexican people were able to develop a sense of identity and purpose, and many different coalitions from different parts of the country united in the effort against Porfirio.
