  • The Election of 1824
  • Hi, I'm Andrew Jackson, but my friends call me Ol'Hickory!
  • Yo, Henry Clay, but you probably recognize me from the Missouri Compromise and of 1850!
  • Greetings, John Quincy Adams here, remember my daddy?
  • The Electon of 1824
  • Everyone should vote for Adams because he is better than Jackson.
  • The Corrupt Bargain
  • We have a deal!
  • I can convinced the House of Representatives to vote for you, if you make me Secretary of State once you win.
  • Three candidates, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, and Henry Clay were running for the presidency in 1824. Clay had dropped out and there were no majority votes between Adams and Jackson.
  • Corrupt Bargain
  • Hmm... I need a new Secretary of State.
  • Clay urged his supporters to vote for Adams. Since there was no majority vote, Clay, as speaker of House of Representatives, persuaded the House of Representatives to vote for Adams.
  • The Aftermath
  • The whole election was rigged and a corrupt bargain!
  • We don't know your talking about. Besides you don't have evidence.
  • However, Clay and Adams had a secret meeting about the election. Clay told Adams that if he helps Admas when the election, then Clay gets appointed as Secretary of State.
  • The Election of 18128
  • He cheated me out of my Presidency! Adams is just a rich politician that doesn't know the American people!
  • After convincing the House of Representatives, Adams won. Right away, Adams appointed Clay as Secretary of State.
  • After losing the election, Jackson accused Clay and Adams of a"corrupt bargain", BUT there was no actually evidence of a "corrupt bargain". Jackson's supporters hated the result of the election and it affected the presidency of Adams.
  • Jackson bad-mouthed Adams his entire presidency, and in the election of 1828, Adams did the same thing to Jackson. The election was focused mostly on the candidates' personalities than the bigger issues.
  • You're a military murderer!
