- Ulrich von Gradwitz is patrolling the forest on a dark winter night.Searching and hunting for a human enemy, Georg Znaeym.Their families have been feuding for centries over the land ,leading the two men to want to kill each other
- falling action
- after searching for awhile, Ulrich and Georg find each other in the forest .They each have men out in the forest backig them up. he two men are eager for the satisfaction of killing each other.
- resolution
- when they were about to draw their guns to each other, a large tree falls on top of them pinning them each down causing injuries for both.Despite the situation they were in, they fought and threatened each other.They each stated that once there men came they would kill the other once they were free.
- theme
- While each experienced this ,Ulrich offered to share his wine flask with George but he refused.He would not drink with an enemy. Eventually they reconciled and agreed to be friends and share the land on which their families fought over upon centuries.They mutually greed that their feud was exhausting.
- the two men saw a few figures coming towards them, and as they yelled they realized that it might not be their men after all. They then realize that the figures in the distance are actually wolves.
- the two newly found friends realize that its not their men , and the story ends here.Now each of their men will never know that there was a truce proposed between the two parties.
