- Creon makes sure, that Antigone went through with burying her brother Polynicies even after being aware of Creons' Proclamation. To this she answers.
- I do. I deny nothing.It was public. Could I help hearing it?I dared. It was not God’s proclamation. That final JusticeThat rules the world below makes no such laws.Your edict, King, was strong,But all your strength is weakness itself againstThe immortal unrecorded laws of God.(2,51-61)
- And you, Antigone,You with your head hanging—do you confess this thing?Tell me, tell me briefly:Had you heard my proclamation touching this matter?And yet you dared defy the law.(2,50-56)
- Creon's Son Haemon, who even though loves Antigone, here assures his father that he will follow what his father suggests is best, and follow him as a guide.
- Good. That is the way to behave: subordinateEverything else, my son, to your father’s will.This is what a man prays for, that he may getSons attentive and dutiful in his house,Each one hating his father’s enemies,Honoring his father’s friends. (3,9-16)

- Antigone laments the life that she will not be able to have because of her upcoming death. She angers Creon, who says that the guards should ignore her declarations. He then tells the guards to bring Antigone to her tomb and to ignore her from then on.
