- Simba and Nala sneak into the elephant graveyard and are cornered by the ravenous hyenasShenzi, Banzai, and Ed. They are saved when Mufasa arrives and frightens the hyenas.
- Rafiki gathers all the animals of the Pridelands to Pride Rock to welcome the newborn cub of KingMufasa and Queen Sarabi.
- . Simba shares the news of his royal destiny with Scar, who tricks him into visiting the forbiddenelephant graveyard. Simba invites his best friend Nala on his adventure.
- Scar leaves Simba alone in the gorge and the hyenas start a wildebeest stampede. Mufasa isalerted and leaps into the stampede, saving Simba, but Scar pushes Mufasa back into the gorge,where he is trampled. Scar blames Simba for the King’s death and tells him to run away and never return.
- As Sarabi, Nala, Rafiki, and the lionesses mourn the loss of Mufasa and Simba, Scar assumes thethrone, forcefully uniting lions and hyenas under his dark reign.
- Lost in the desert, Simba meets Timon and Pumbaa, who take him to their “worry-free” junglehome
