  • Hello, it's nice to meet you. I was invited to come watch you. I have to say, you sure are the bees knees. I'd like to offer you a place on my team.

  • George Herman "Babe" Ruth was born February 6th, 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was sent to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys where he began practicing baseball with one of the laymen when he was 7.

  • Look at this guy, who does he think he is?
  • In February of 1914, the laymen that practiced baseball with George invited Jack Dunn, owner of the Baltimore Orioles to watch him play. After less than an hour, he offered a contract. His teammates called him "Jacks newest babe", giving him, his famous nickname "The Babe"

  • He's the big cheese of baseball.
  • It has been a great honor and pleasure playing the great game for all these years. It gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinking of all the great experiences. These last 22 years have been amazing. Thank you all.
  • Jack Dunn sold babe, Connie Mack, and Ben Egan for $10,000 on July 9th, 1914 to the Boston Red Sox. The Babe debued with the Sox on July 11th. He was primarily a pitcher and helped the Red Sox win the world series in 1915 and 1916.
  • On September 11, 1918 the Red Sox faced the Chicago Cubs winning the world series 4 games to one. The babe wanted double his salary and was denied. So on December 26, 1919 he was sold to the New York Yankees where where he played 15 years winning 4 world series.
  • The babe played for the Sox winning the world series in 1915, 1916, and then 1923, 1927, 1928, and 1932 with the Yankees. The babe played his last major league game on May 25th, 1935 with the Braves. He hit 3 home runs driving in 6 runs but still lost to the Pittsburg Pirates 7-11.
  • Babe Ruth was elected in 1936 into the hall of fame. He was joined by 4 other extraordinary players, Ty cobb, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, and Walter Johnson. During his career from 1914-1935 the great bambino played 2,503 games, hit 714 homeruns, and had 488 strikeouts.
