  • Kia ora!
  • Where did my bait go?
  • I don't tell my pet when to eat, it eats whenever it wants too.
  • Then I shall kill your pet.
  • There once was a man named Kupe, he lived in Hawaiiki with his wife, Kuramarotini, and his whanau.
  • One morning Kupe went to his favourite fishing spot. He said a karakia while he was fishing, when he pulled his line up from the moana, the bait was gone...
  • The next day Kupe set to the other side of the island to where Muturangi lived, Kupe knew that Muturangi had a huge wheke as a pet. Kupe was determined to kill Muturangi's pet after what it did.
  • Kupe started to make a waka, after days of working hard he had finally finished. Kupe had named the waka Matahorua. Kupe, his whanau and many other brave warriors had boarded onto the waka and set out on their journey.
  • Out of nowhere the wheke grips onto the waka trying to capsize it. Kupe cuts off the tentacle and the wheke struggles to grip onto the waka, Kupe strikes again and again until the wheke gives up. Kupe then says a spell, making sure that it would never bother them again.
  • Kupe and his whanau had been sailing for days. Then one morning Kupe's wife spotted land just a few kilometres away so Kupe sailed to it. He had just landed on the east coast of Aotearoa, then Kupe and his whanau lived happily.
