  • Macbeth utters this word when the ghost of Banquo appears at a banquet. Macbeth's ghost vision reveals his guilt ordering the murder of Banquo and his little son. His guilt is so strong that he loses his sense of reality and is uncertain if he has a vision. He speaks these lines to make sure Banquo is really dead. In doing so, Macbeth reveals that his distressed consciousness is causing his loss of mind.

  • Macbeth's greed and ambition have officially skyrocketed and he finalizes that he needs to kill his best friend, Banque, and Macduff's family. There is no turning back now, he must continue on his bloody path to its conclusion.
