- Hi! My name is Binaaswi, but I'm also known as Francis Pegahmagabow or "Peggy" to my friends. I was born on March 9, 1891 and worked in lumber camps, fishing stations.
- Pegahmagabow served in WWI despite the official Canadian policy that initially excluded minorities; he was one of nearly 4000 indigenous soldiers who volunteered in the war
- He became a reputable soldier and was known as the deadliest sniper; he was credited with 378 kills and of capturing nearly 300 prisoners. He continued to fight despite receiving pneumonia, leg injuries and surviving a gas attack.
- Justice for Indigenous peoples!!!!
- After the war, he became a chief and a councillor and advocated for better treatment towards Indigenous peoples and veterans.
- He was declared Canada's most highly decorated aboriginal soldier and received several awards such as Two bars, British War Medal, etc to show his courage.
- He died on Aug 5, 1952 and was bestowed with a bronze monument at CFB Borden.
