- It was the year 2055 and time travel had become the new normal three hunters Eckele, Billings, and Kramer along with their safari tour guide Travis and his assistant Lesperance. These hunters wanted to go back in time to hunt a t-rex but if anything happens it could change history as they know it.
- Falling Action
- go pick out the bullets out of the t-rex!!
- Time Safari Inc had warned Eckles of the dangers of time traveling and the effects that it can have on history, but Eckles didn't seem to care all he wanted to do was kill a t-rex and didn't care about the consequences. They got into the time machine and traveled about 60 million years into the past to the jungle and soon saw a t-rex. Could Eckles be the one to change everything?
- Resolution
- you changed the present by going off the path...
- Whenever Eckles saw the t-rex he chickened out because of how frightened he was, and he decided that he couldn't shoot the dinosaur. Lesperance told him to go back to the machine and hide, but when he was walking he walked off the path into the jungle while the other guys kill the t-rex.
- Characterization/ Foreshadowing
- When Travis realized that Eckles had gone off the path he wanted to just leave Eckles behind, but Travis had told Eckles that for him to come back with them he had to retrieve the bullets inside the t-rex. Once, they had returned back to the present day Eckles had realized that something had changed.
- Eckles had noticed a change as soon as they had returned to the present day, he had seen a sign outside and a different president had been elected. Eckles soon realized that he had stepped on a butterfly and that was why history had changed, and when Travis realized he raised his gun and there was "a sound of thunder."
- "every hunter that ever lived." (502) This shows how he cares more about his status and how others view him rather than his own safety, and for him to be a hunter who cares more about his status above everything is an attribute no hunter should have. "This fool nearly killed us." (508) This shows that Eckles doesn't care about risking other's lives as long as he saves himself, and this is a very bad trait to have acquired when doing something as dangerous as going back in time to hunt a t-rex. When Travis warns Eckles about leaving the path and the effects that it can have on history, and he explained that the killing of one mouse could result in mice dying out and could have an effect on the animals that rely on mice for food and billions of animals and organisms could be destroyed by just the killing of one losy mouse.
