- Mary Maloney waits for her husband very joyfully to come back from work. Mary was a housewife who would do anything for her husband, Patrick Maloney to please him like cooking. Unfortunately, Patrick seems upset but Mary asks if she could do something for him but his answer was always no.
- Falling Action
- Patrick tells Mary that he has been cheating on her. It was bad timing because Mary was 6 months into pregnancy. Patrick tells Mary to not make a fuss because it would have a negative impact towards his job
- Resolution
- Mary gets a frozen lamb leg and strikes Partick in the back of the head killing him and then sticks the lamb leg into the oven to cook. Mary then later practices that she is telling her husband that she is going to the grocery store so that she can have an alibi. She comes back from the store with more vegetables and cheesecake that her husband likes for her alibi.
- Literary Element
- She comes back from the grocery store and sees her dead husband. SHe acts shocked and calls the cops that her husband worked with. Even though Mary was the murderer, the cops wouldn't find her suspicious since she was great friends with the cops and she also had an alibi by going to the store. A detective says that Patrick was hit in the head with a hard heavy object like a bat but there were no signs of any heavy item that could have possobly been used.
- Mary has the lamb out of the oven for the officers to eat on a hard day of work. They would actually doing her a favor sicne the officers are eating the lamb leg which was the murder weapon. The officers were totally oblivious that Mary used the lamb legg to kill Patrick. Mary was never caught or suspected as the murderer and she giggles
- The literary element that can be shown in this story is Irony. The type of irony used in this is dramatic irony. It is dramatic irony because #1 we know that Mary killed Patrick. #2 The cops were eating the murderer weapon, the cops thought something like a baseball bat was used but the lamb was solid because it was frozen.
