  • I don't want to eat this, but I am hungry!
  • 400 years ago, the first American Colonists came looking for wealth. However, they didn't find what they were looking for. They had to eat rats to survive, and eventually more people arrived on the land, resulting in better life.
  • Where is my power?
  • In the 1200s, the king or queen could do whatever they want with their citizens and country. But now in the 1600, the Parliament limits the king/queen's power. The Parliament protects the basic rights of citizens and made laws, meaning the king/queen are not allow to pass any new law without the Parliament's permission.
  • In the Virginia Colony, each community would have 2 representatives, and they would have meetings together to solve everyday problems.In the Plymouth region however, democracy was the ultimate problem solver. The colonists would vote, and majority-rule.

  • In the 1700s, Britain had a lot of debt due to warfare, so they passed the Stamp Act. This act force Colonists to put expensive stamps on all papers, including newspapers, books, etc. To boycott this unfair act, the Colonists stopped buying British goods.
  • After the Stamp Act, the British continues to pass on multiple acts, and one famous is the Tea Act. This act was the beginning of the Boston Tea Party event. The Colonists was so upset with all the Acts that they snuck onto the ship and tossed all tea crates into the Boston Harbor.
  • On July 4th, 1776, the Colonists finally signed the Declaration of Independence, breaking all connections with Britain. Later on, the Americans won the Revolutionary war, and Britain no longer have control over the colonies.
