Myth of Oedipus

- When Oedipus was born he had his ankles tied together. He was also hung on a tree in an attempt to prevent the fulfillment of the prophecy.
- The shepherd was unable to leave the baby alone so he decided to take him off the tree. Therefore the shepherd takes him to the house of Polybius.
- Polybius adopted Oedipus and made him his own. One day he was told by a drunk man Polybius was not his real father but when he told them they denied it.
- Eventually, Oedipus leaves Corinth to travel to the city of Thebes. On the way there he crosses paths with a king named Lais. They get into an argument and then Oedipus killed him not knowing it was his dad.
- Furthermore, on Oedipus's way to Thebes, he encounters a sphinx. The sphinx asks him a riddle if he gets it right he can continue his travel, but if not he will die. So he answers the riddle correctly then the sphinx dies. Oedipus becomes the king and marries the queen
- In conclusion, they end up having 4 kids 2 boys and 2 girls. As time passes Oedipus figures out that he killed his father and married his mother. Jocasta hangs herself once she figures it out. Oedipus sees her, stabs his eyes out, and runs away. Therefore, leaving his sons to be the king.
