  • Hey everyone! Welcome back to Kayla Asks, where I hit the streets to chat with folks about anything and everything.
  • Uh, are you selling something or...
  • Excuse me, sir! Hi, My name's Kayla. Mind if I ask you a few questions?
  • Oh ok cool, I’m in.
  • Nope, just chatting with people for my talk show. You're actually my first interview of the day!
  • Awesome, what’s your name?
  • Tyler
  • Nice to meet you, Tyler! So, tell me, what’s your take on family?
  • Family's cool. Definitely see myself starting one someday.
  • Love to hear it. What kind of dad do you think you'd be?
  • I’d aim to be a solid role model. Show what it means to be a good person. the importance of hustling, the whole nine yards.
  • Well, with how things are in today, we’d both probably need to work. But ideally, I'd earn enough so she could stay home if she wanted.
  • Gotcha. So, in your future family, would you or your partner be the breadwinner?
  • Interesting. Kinda reminds me of The Odyssey, you know, with Odysseus away and Penelope holding down the fort back home, raising a teenage son, except she had to deal with all those suitors constantly hitting on her.
  • Yeah, but honestly, if I was gone two decades, I wouldn’t blame her for moving on. I’d probably think I was dead too.
  • Fair point. But sticking around matters, right? Especially for kids growing up?
  • Yeah, being there is key. But if you’re partner's not, it's fair game to move on from a the relationship.
  • Yeah, I see what you mean. It’s wild thinking about how back in the day, like in the Bible, leaving your spouse was seen as such a big no-no. I’m thinking about Mark 10:12, where it says if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.
  • Not my cup of tea, all that biblical stuff. If a marriage is toxic, why stick around?
  • I get that. But marriage isn’t just about feelings, right? It’s also about sticking it out through thick and thin.
  • Yeah, I get your point
  • Yeah, that’s a good way to look at it.
  • Think about it with kids, I mean they can drive parents nuts, but you love them no matter what. It’s about commitment.
  • Gonna shift gears a bit with the questions. Ever read Frankenstein?
  • Yeah, loved it as a kid!
  • It’s a classic. The monster got totally ditched by Victor. It's like being rejected by your mom for being too ugly.
  • I know, I totally felt for him. All he wanted was a little love and a family.
  • I just can’t buy into the supernatural stuff. Besides if there was a God, why all the chaos?
  • Also, you mentioned earlier you're not into the whole biblical thing. Why is that?
  • I see. You actually remind me of Ivan in The Brothers Karamazov. He was a smart guy who questioned God because of all the suffering in the world.
  • Interesting connection, but what’s that got to do with Frankenstein?
  • Well, both stories touch on what happens when kids don’t get the love they need. Unlike those stories, though, the Bible talks about a God who's all about sticking with his kids, even sending his son to bridge the gap.
  • Sounds intense but it still doesn't explain all the bad stuff happening.
  • That’s the big question, huh? Christianity says it's because of original sin, which all started because Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. Even then, God's move was about offering choice, not enforcing it. He even sacrificed His only Son so that we'd have the option to become a part of His loving family.
  • So, all this mess is because two people ate some kind of forbidden fruit? That's crazy! And your saying that God sacrificed His Son just for us?
  • It’s pretty out there, right? Imagine sacrificing your only kid for people who aren’t even on your side. That’s some serious love.
  • Definitely something to think about...
  • Well thanks so much Tyler for chatting with me and I hope you walk away from this conversation knowing a little bit about the love of God and how much it changes the way we see family.
  • Sure no problem, have a good one!
  • Thanks you too!
  • Well, that's a wrap for this segment of “Kayla Asks!” We will catch up with you guys later for more random yet insightful questions!
