  • In this scene Hamlet, Horatio and, Marcellus see the ghost of the dead king of Denmark, Hamlets father. Hamlet doesn't know if this is a devil sent from hell to trick him or his father back from the dead to tell him about something.

  • The ghost of the king tells his son how he died and how he must be avenged. Hamlet knew it, the true killer was his Uncle. Hamlet's goal is to avenge his father

  • A bunch of actors come to Denmark to do a play in front of royalty but a day before Hamlet tells the actors to act the play of The Murder of Gonzago which is very similar to how Claudius killed his brother.

  • Hamlet ponders if he should or shouldn't commit suicide. this is where the famous quote to be or not to be comes from. 
  • it is mid play, the murder is being re-enacted, Claudius can't stand it so he leaves.
  • Hamlet's final words, death by poison. After this Fortinbras commands for Hamlet to be buried in honour.
