  • Son, did you know that all living things are made up of cells?
  • He's the first one who discovered it?
  • English scientist Robert Hooke First use the term cells in 1665 to describe the small chambers within cork that he observed under a microscope of his own design.
  • Yeah, its all thanks to him.
  • And then, Theodor Schwann, a noted German physiologist, made similar microscopic observations of animal tissues. In 1839, after a conversation with Schleiden, Schwann realized that similarities existed between plant and animal tissues.
  • Nearly 200 years later, in 1838, Matthias Schleiden, a german botanist who made extensive microscopic observations of plant tissues, described them as being composed cells.
  • Similarities? What is it?
  • Afterwards, in 1852, Robert Remak, a prominent neurologist and embryologist, published convincing evidence that cells are derived from the other cells as a result of cell division. However, this idea was questioned by many in scientific community.
  • This laid the foundation for the idea that cells are the fundamental components of plant and animals .
  • Three years later, Rudolf Virchow , a well-respected pathologist, published an editorial essay entitled Cellular Pathology , which popularized the concept of cell theory using the latin phrase omnis cellula a cellula, which is essentialy the second tenet of modern cell theory .
  • We should enjoy and value our own life because it is a God's gift to us.
  • Knowing that all living things are made up of cells allows us to understand how organisms are created, grow, and die. That informationhelps us understand how new life is created, why organisms take the form they do, how cancer spreads, how diseases can be managed, and more. Cells even help us understand fundamental issues such as life and death: an organism whose cells are living is considered alive, while one whose cells are dead is considered dead.
