- Isabella: Maya I am so happy right now! My boyfriend Matt is the sweetest ever. He always wants to know where I am, he cares what I wear, he always calls me and he is always protective whenever a boy comes to talk to me. He is such a good boyfriend!
- Isabella and Maya have been best friends since middle school. They attend Stephen Lewis Secondary School in grade 11. Right now Isabella has a fantastic boyfriend named Matt. He is so sweet and protective. However, her friend Maya doesn't agree.
- Isabella: I think you're just overthinking it. It's fine.
- Maya: Be careful Isabella, boyfriends aren't suppose to be that protective over their girlfriends. My boyfriend Jeremy doesn't really care what I wear or if I talk to boys. Matt sounds a little bit jealous.
- Isabella: But Matt I wanna hang out with my friends, I love talking to them.
- Matt, Isabella's boyfriend, doesn't want her to hang out with her friends anymore because he feels that they don't spend enough time together. However, Isabella disagrees with him and wants to hangout with her friends.
- Matt: I told you Isabella that you can't talk to any of your friends. You can only talk to me!! You barley spend time with me and why are dressing so slutty today? You look disgusting. Remember your only mine.
- Matt: I said no Isabella!! End of discussion!
- Maya: Isabella I don't think this is a healthy relationship. He is forcing you to do things you don't want to do and he is consistently jealous. He doesn't sound right for you.
- Maya: Ok but I think this is gonna be a bad idea.
- Isabella seeks comfort from her best friend Maya because she isn't sure if she should stop hanging out with her and she is worried that he will break up with her if she won't.
- Isabella: Maya I don't know what to do. I really love Matt. But I don't want to stop talking to you and my other friends. I really don't want him to break up with me. What do I do?
- Isabella: I think I'll just hangout with my friends and not tell Matt about it. I think that's a better plan.
- Isabella: Im really sorry. Please stop!! Stay away from me!!
- Matt found out that Isabella disobeyed him by talking/hanging out with her friends so he becomes aggressive towards her. Isabella is scared and confused about why he is hurting her.
- Matt: HOW DARE YOU DISOBEY ME! Your so ugly. Your lucky that you still have me. (Matt hits Isabella)
- A few days later Isabella tells Matt that she needs a break and that she doesn't want to be around him if he is being so aggressive and angry. Matt goes over to Isabella's house and begs her to take him back.
- Matt: Isabella I'm really sorry. Please take me back. I promise I won't do it again. If you don't take me back I will kill myself.
- Isabella: Matt I'm really sorry but I'm done. I don't want to be treated this way. We are done!
- 2 Weeks later: Isabella founds an amazing therapist to help her cope with her trauma and told her that she was experiencing the cycle of abuse.
- Therapist: The relationship you were in was called the cycle of abuse. First he becomes aggressive starts to say rude things, then he becomes physical and tries to hurt you, finally he tries to buy flowers and promises that he will never do it again. And the whole cycle repeats.
- Isabella: Thank you so much!! This has really helped me open my eyes about my past unhealthy relationship. In the future I will be more careful.
