- The British signed a treaty with the Cherokee in order to prevent the Cherokee from trading with the French. However this treaty was interpreted in seperate ways. The british thought they owned the cherokee, but the cherokee saw them as equals.
- Now we are friends and on equal terms.

- Since the Cherokee saw the British as allies they expected to be protected during the french and Indian war. However, when the French and Indian attacked the Cherokee and the British were no where to be found, the Cherokee became upset.
- The British didn't protect us, this is unacceptable
- Due to the lack of protection from the British, the Cherokee felt cheated. This caused the Cherokee to take the British settler's horses. The Cherokee did this because they saw that the British were not holding up there end of the treaty
- Lets steal there horses to get revenge

- To punish the Cherokee for stealing their horses, the Royal Governor of South Carolina stopped all trade and took Cherokee Peace representatives as hostage
- They will pay for what they did!
- I am stopping all of their trade, we have taken their Peace Representatives!
- Those conflicts led to the Cherokee War. The Cherokee War was the Cherokee vs The British settlers. The war lasted for about 2 years. The British won and because of that the war led to many deaths among the Cherokee. This was a big loss for the Cherokee.
- After the war, the Cherokee and British signed a treaty that created a divide between the colonies and Cherokee land. Unfortunately, the Cherokee lost most of their land after the war.
- They took all of our land!
