- Then while Nick’s parents listened, Mrs. Chatham laid out the story as she saw it
- Mrs. Chatham Is the principal and she is coming to Nick's house to talk with Nick's parents about the situation at school
- “But doesn’t all this seem like a lot of fuss about something pretty silly?
- She shookhands stiffly with both of Nick’s parents before sitting down on the chair to the left
- No thanks I really must be going now
- Then while Nick’s parents listened, Mrs. Chatham laid out the story as she saw it nick's dad was listening and frowning but his mom looked kind of annoyed
- Nick couldn't figure out if his mom and principal were fighting or talking even Nick's DAD looked confused!
- Mrs. Chatham didn’t stay much longer. There was a little more talk back and forthacross the chessboard about how children have a right to explore new ideas, about theimportance of respecting teachers.
- Mrs. Chatham thanked Nick's parents and they thanked her and then Mrs. Chatham left.
