- Scout is frustrated that her teacher wants her to be taught a certain way, after she already learned a different way, and is now ahead of the class.
- But Atticus already taught me.

- Jem is trying to describe to Scout that the new system is good for her, and that it's better to listen to the teacher and how shes teaching now, rather than how she was taught.
- Scout is being explained that she won't learn to write until the 3rd grade, even though she knows how to, she is ahead in her class, and is very bored now, because she knows how to do all of this already.
- "We don't write in the first grade, we print. you won't learn to write until You're in the third grade." (1.2.23)
- I like to do things on my own time, when I know I will be the most productive, and I know that I will get the work done on time, just not when originally assigned to me.
- "Do your work in class now, do it how I say to, do it on my time, not yours."
- I would rather do it when I'm most productive, so I can manage it in the best way possible for ME, when I want to do my work, in the way I want to do it.
- Another teacher wanted me to solve a problem in multiple different ways, I get that she wants to show everyone every way possible, but she shouldn't make us do it every single way.
- "Show me 5 different ways to find how you got the answer that 2+2=4."
- "Why can't I just pick one and go with it, I don't need to do all the options, just know how to do 3 at most."
- Another teacher would get mad when I would go ahead of the lesson, because I already knew how to do the lesson, and just in case I missed something, I would still listen, but do something else at the same time like work in another class.
- "Meredith, don't go ahead stay with the class, you shouldn't be doing work when the rest of the class hasn't started."
- "But I know how to do this already, and what you're teaching to the class, I already know how to do it, and have practiced it so I stay confident in how to do it."
