  • During the South African war many of the Dutch were Boer supporters and migrated to South Africa when in 1881 victory was for the Boer Republic. In the meantime, British colonizers were migrating in an attempt to take over South Africa.
  • What should we do now?
  • Even before the 1948 elections, racial segregation was widely spread since there were large groups of Dutch descent South Africans, although when the national party led by Daniel F. Malan came to office, segregation became legalized through The Population Registration Act of 1950 which resulted in apartheid and had angered and frustrated many of the natives and colored people.
  • The Population Registration Act of 1950 Has Been Passed.
  • I could do what the white race is capable of, yet I'm a cleaner!
  • Apathied not only caused segregation and discrimination in public areas it also rendered the blacks, colored, and indians human rights. They were given low paying jobs that involved extensive labor such as cooking, cleaning, and mining. Not only that but they were guided to live in rural areas and didn’t have equal rights in education or health care. Therefore children didn’t have access to quality education which allowed the continuation of “White rule.”
  • This isn't fair! I wish I could attend a better school!
  • The African National Congress was created to help retrieve the native settlers in South Africa to gain their human rights back. Nelson Mandela was a social rights activist, politician and philanthropist that joined the ANC. Mandela was then promoted to deputy national president and that allowed him to lead protests and more but unfortunately, he was soon charged with sabotage, treason, and violent conspiracy, which led him to life imprisonment.
  • Amandla!
  • FW de Klerk was against racial discrimination and segregation and wanted to have a racist free society. In order to do so he met up with Nelson Mandela who at the time was the most famous political prisoner in order to reach that goal. Thus, FW de Klerk released Mandela and loosened up some restrictions to allow the ANC to continue operating.
  • Peace does not fair well where poverty and deprivation reign. It does not flourish where there is ignorance and a lack of education and information.
  • The ANC, led by Nelson Mandela, won South Africa's first universal suffrage elections in April 1994, and on May 10, Mandela was sworn in as president of the country's first multiethnic government. He established the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in 1995 to examine human rights violations committed during apartheid, and he sponsored housing, education, and economic development projects to help the country's Black people better their living standards.
  • Nelson Mandela for the win!
