  • Good morning, nurse. I would like to ask on what will happen to my body after giving birth.
  • Good morning ma'am. Okay, so this is the changes that you will encounter after giving birth. We have the changes in the Breast, uterus, bowel, bladder, lochia, emotional, response and the Homan's sign.
  •
  • Oh, that's a lot of changes.Do I need to do something?
  • That's a good question. You'll need to know the types of assessment. So for the breast you need to assess for lumps and nodules, in your nipple you'll need to assess for bleeding, blisters, or if your nipple is inverted or flat. For the uterus we'll need to assess for the placement and size, tone and lochia.
  •
  • No, it's okay. May I ask, why do I need to know/assess this change again? How do I do it?
  • Okay, I'll now proceed with why you need to know this things.
  • Also, we will need to assess your emotional status as well if you are showing any signs of anxiety or depression.
  • Am I going to fast?
  •
  •
  • You need to know these things because this is the common changes in postpartum. By having knowledge on this things it will be easier for you in the future, without worrying.
  •
  •
  • Out of all the assessment you've mention, I would like to know how to assess my breast.
  • You can start by lying on your back then place your right hand behind your head. With your left hand, gently press down using small motions to examine the entire right breast. After that you can sit or stand to feel your armpit as breast tissue goes into that area.
  •
  •
  • Thank you for enlightening me with your answers.
  • You are welcome. Ask me anytime if you have more questions.
  •
  • We need to assess to see if there are changes and if there are possible complications that we can prevent ahead of time.Assessment is necessary if you feel something different in that particular part of the body.
  • .
  • Then you can stand in front and look at your breasts directly in the mirror. Look for changes in skin texture, such as dimpling, puckering, indentations, or skin that looks like an orange peel.
