Hi James! Did you know that Red Blood Cells are the most common type of blood cells and have a lifespan of around 120 days!
Wow, that's awesome! I find it interesting how Red Blood Cells are made of a protein called hemoglobin. Hemoglobin's purpose is to pick up oxygen from the lungs and transport it all around the body. Many people compare the shape of a Red Blood Cell to a flattened basketball.
White Blood Cells have learned to fight against diseases uses different strategies. Some of the jobs the cells must take on include alerting the body that it has been invaded, producing chemicals to fight off invaders, and some even surround and kill the harmful organisms.
Another type of blood cell is the White Blood Cell. Although these are larger in size than Red Blood Cells, they are smaller in quantity. White Blood Cells are crucial and have earned the nickname Disease Fighters .

Although it is not classified as a cell, plasma plays an important role in keeping your body healthy. Plasma is a liquid made up of about 90% water and has a yellow tint to it. Hormones send messages throughout the body letting the plasma know what to do and when to do it.
Plasma is also key to a healthy body because it carries proteins, nutrients, and hormones all around. While doing so, it also picks up and gets rid of cell waste.
