  • The Winter at Valley Forge (1777)
  • While most depictions of Valley Forge show men partly clothed and troubled, this wasn't the case. Almost all men had full uniforms, and food was scarce, but the colonists pushed through. Eventually during the warmer seasons, diseases like dysentary started to spread, and along with a few other diseases, 2/3 of the deaths at valley forge were caused by sickness. Eventually the colonists were gifted with cattle and horses, which helped with the food crisis. They had also crafted log houses out of lumber which was easily collected from the forest surrounding them.

  • George Washington's Quarters
  • George Washington lived in the "Isaac Potts House". This wasn't his actual home, it was his home in Valley Forge. The Isaac Potts House is a pretty little brick building. This is perfect for Valley Forge, since you don't need too much space, just enough for clothing and some food. He of course moved out when him and his men left in pursuit of the British.

  • Soldiers Quarters
  • The Colonists lived in large log cabins they made themselves. These Cabins usually took a week to make, but gathering the resources wasn't hard. They were surrounded by forest, so they never had to worry about running out of wood for these houses. The bathrooms were outhouse like stations planted around Valley Forge.
