- The Monsters are due on maple street by Rod sterling one of the maple street themes are good friends hard to find. One reason why I think this is a good theme is because when Lesgoodmans car randomly turns on they all get suspisious of him and they all blame him for being the monster and saying his car is only working nothing else is working no light, no radios, Nothing except his car (p.g 76-77). This a good reason because it shows how quick people are to assume another person but he was just like another person like 5 minutes ago. Another reason why this is a good theme is because Steve had a ram radio that no knew about in the town beside his wife than some resident say's that his wife said she dosen´t know what he been working on late at night in the basement than Charlie says ¨ yeah what kind of ram radio set have u been working on Steve and who do u talk to and who talks to you¨. This is also a good reason because there suspecting him for talking to other when it was just a ram radio set that his wife bought him. The last reason why I think this is a good them is because when everyone was blaming each other they started shooting each other and throwing stuff at each other house and breaking stuff in the last p.g of the book it says the shout, scream, accuse, and the shots with shots of houses in the closing scene. That´s also a good reason because they just started breaking and shooting each other instead of just talking it out and figuring it out . These reason show how this is a good theme because it explains how they couldn´t find someone to trust and not just to betray someone because someone else said so that they were the monster.
