  • Ok, Marci, lets go through this one more time
  • Harmony is teaching her two younger siblings (Mar'Cne(mar-c-nay) and Mj) about how animals have evolved andhow the adaptaions they have help then survive. Mar'cne has gotten a bit mixed up. Let take a look at the conversation
  • All the different animals and plants we see today used to look different many years ago; They have evolved over time into the animals we know today!
  • Pretty sure he means Adaptations
  • Haha
  • Like a Wombat! They used to be really big but they evolved over time into a smaller type and have... adoptions like longer claws to help them dig faster, right Harmony!
  • God job little bro! You got it for them most part, and yes having long claws is an adaptation that helps the wombat survive and they have many more like a slow metabolism meaning they digest food slower to save energy and a backwards pouch that they keep their babies in so when they dig, the dirt doesn't hurt the baby.
  • Woah..
  • Good Listening Mar'Cne! and that's correct. The ancestors of the wombat used to be much bigger. We know this because of Fossil Records. scientists can tell how animals have changed and if an animal is related to another by looking at the structure or shape of the bones of animals left behind; They compare them to other animal bones that look similar and If the bones look the same, those animals could have common ancestor, meaning both animals could have evolved from one animal.
  • It is very helpful for wombats to have these adaptation because they live in places where its hot and dry with not alot of water and it is the reason the slow metabolism plays a great part.
  • Sister, didn't you say that the wombat had bigger versions years ago?
  • Well guys, I think we deserve a good brain break after all the learning we've done today, Let go inside, shall we?
  • AGREED!
