  • States Powers: All this money and I still can't buy happiness. I need to print more money so I can buy whatever satisfies my craving
  • WHAT?!
  • Federal Powers: You can't do that! Only I have to power to print and regulate currency.
  • States: What other possible way do I have to generate more income to fund my expenditures?
  • Concurrent: You can levy taxes in your state instead. Taxes such as sales or property are examples of state powers to create a state budget.
  • States: Does that mean I can also tax federal institutions such as national banks?
  • Federal: Nope! Under the Supremacy Clause, a national bank can not be taxed by the state because federal government is supreme over state
  • State: I see now! So I can only tax under my own state excluding federal institutions? Wait! How come you can create a bank and I can't?
  • Federal: Well, according to the elastic clause, I can create anything so long as it supports the Constitution's ruling. That means a bank can support regulating interstate commerce!
  • Additionally, Federal Powers Man, you can also regulate commerce between other nations, not just in the United States.
