Conflict
Rising Action
*cough* *cough*
During a carnival in Italy, Montressor sees his "friend", Fortunato, who seems sick. Montressor offers to share Amontillado. Montressor doesn't have the Amontillado, it's in his catacomb. So he asks Fortunado if they can go get it.
Climax
Montressor wants to get revenge on Fortunato for insulting him. He doesn't say what Fortunado did to insult him but he wants to get him back.
Falling Action
Montressor brings Fortunado down to his catacomb. He keeps asking if Fortunado wants to go back because he seems sick, but he doesn't.
Resolution
When they get in the catacomb, there's no Amontillado but there is a hole in the wall. He pushes Fortunado inside and starts sealing the wall with bricks.
As he's finishing the wall, Fortunado starts screaming for Montressor to stop but he doesn't.
Montressor walks away hearing Fortunado's jester bells echoeing in the wall. Then he replaces the bones with crypt. Then he claims no one has disturbed them for 50 years.
