  • Red blood cells contain 40% of the space in your blood. The human body produces 17 million red blood cells per second. Also, a red blood cell is around 7 microns in size.
  • Red Blood Cell or RBC
  • Red blood cells are very important. A red blood cell looks like a flattened baseball. A red blood cell is made out of a protein called hemoglobin. Red blood cells carry oxygen to our bodies, then they make the return trip to take carbon dioxide back to our lungs to be exhaled. Then they do the same thing over and over again.
  • White blood cells look like tiny balls of cotton. White blood cells protect you from illness and disease.
  • White blood cells contain about 1% of the space in your blood. A drop of blood contains an average of between 7,000 and 25,000 white blood cells at a time.
  • A platelet looks like tiny balls. Platelets main job is to stop bleeding.
  • Platelets make up less than one percent of you blood. Fun fact about platelets; one drop of your blood contains as many as 1,500,000-4,000,000 platelets.
