- Author asked people of Mumbai living outside slums about the Asia's biggest slum Dharavi. Generally people had the perception that they are poor and live in the worst living conditions possible.
- Author then visited one of the house of slum . The house was clumsy and living condition was pathetic. But the family was happy with what they had
- Author decided to visit the slum Dharavi to know about the reality of slum life so she visited the city Mumbai.
- Author asked regarding the availability of clean water. There was always shortage of clean water in the slums . Frequently dirty waters gets mixed with the clean water.
- It was difficult to access the other homes of slums. It was pretty crowded and was surrounded with a lot of waste on roads.
- The other family also welcomed the author in their home. The lady made tea for the author. She also talked about the problems of basic needs like clean environment ,clean water.
- Author then visited a primary school teacher of Dharavi .She told the author that nearly 70 percent of people were illiterate here but parents nowadays wanted their children to get educated so that they can have a better life.
- Author then played cricket with he little kids and enjoyed their company.
- Experience at Dharavi was new for the author. Author loved that though the people were poor and living in a horrendous situation still they were happy with what they had.
