  • Simon Bolivar's main philosophy centered around how he imagined would be a good independent government for the South American people would be like. He thought that a strong central government was needed, since governments like the United States were too weak for South American and would devolve into anarchy. He believed in the obligation of the state to its people, and thought that a violation of this obligation should be met with rebellion.
  • Simon Bolivar was a religious Roman Catholic and believed in God, but it didn't have a big influence on how he governed. Bolivar's view on human nature centered around how humans are born with potential for either good or bad, which influenced his thoughts on the necessity for a strong central government to help guide the people. Bolivar also found it was purposeful to seek justice, liberty, and equality in life.
  • Simon Bolivar believed in equality for all people regardless of race or social standing. This supported his belief in the need for a strong central government in South America, since it would allow for its citizens to be pushed towards unity despite dividing factors such as race and nationality, and also would allow for the eventual abolishment of slavery. Bolivar also considered the importance of equal citizenship for woman.
