- "For several weeks, I haven't seen Gatsby or heard his voice on the phone--I was mostly in New York, walking around with Jordan and trying to please myself with her senile aunt. I went over to his house one Sunday afternoon, and there was a party of three on horseback--Tom and a man named Sloane and a pretty woman."

- "After the party, Gatsby gets depressed about Daisy not enjoying the last half hour."
