- Hello, I am A.P.J Abdul Kalam. Oh! this picture has reminded me of an interesting incident of my life!! It was 1979, we were going to launch SLV 3......
- The first stage went off well, and in the second stage, it went into a spin. Instead of putting the satellite in orbit, it put it into the Bay of Bengal.
- Oh No. now the entire media will criticize and blame us!!
- I was so sad and fearful of my failure. But what my boss, the ISRO chief, Mr. Satish Dhawan said to the press amazed me.
- Dear friends, we have failed today. I want to support my technologists, my scientists, my staff, so that next year they succeed.
- And exactly after an year in 1980 when the whole nation was watching us, SLV 3 was launched again. ..this time it was successfully put into the orbit...We had created the history!!!
- This time Mr. Satish Dhawan asked me to organize the press conference. And gave all credit to me and my team....what a great leader was he!!
- We have successfully placed SLV 3 into the orbit. Mission accomplished!!
- This incident taught me two important lessons: One, how to handle the failure and second how a true leader should be.....
