  • Now I will talk about X-rays! I'm sure that you both know that you use X-rays in the hospital to check for broken bones. They also use them in airports to scan your luggage. X-rays have the second highest frequency and energy this means that its wavelength is really small to be specific, about the size of an atom! That's really small!
  • Finally, I will talk about gamma rays. Gamma rays have the highest energy and frequency of all forms of EM radiation. They have the shortest wavelength which is around the size of an atomic nucleus. The gamma radiation is very powerful and dangerous. It kills your cells in your body. They use gamma rays to kill cancer cells but its risky because it kills regular cells aswell.
  • Do the other forms of EM radiation kill cells aswell?
  • I don't believe so Julie, do you have a answer or another theory?
  • Yes, as a matter of fact I do have something to say. If gamma rays can kill cells in a few hours, then wouldn't long term exposure to microwaves or even radio waves slowly kill your cells as well? They don't have enough energy to cause cancer, but according to a few of my sources the decaying of cells may lead to cancer. More and more people are being exposed to radiation through cell phones; pretty much everyone owns and carries around a cell phone. Did you know that in the Samsung and Apple phone safety manual it says to limit exposure to the device near your body and to keep it at a distance due to EM radiation.
