  • Storming of the Bastille (July 14, 1789)
  • The Estates General took place in Versailles on May 5, 1789. King Louis XVI was confronted by the commoners about the tax burden. The commoners were unsuccessful in reaching an agreement. This was the beginning of the French Revolution. This event also lead to a rage by the commoners.
  • Declaration of the rights(August 26, 1789)
  • June 20th, 1789, commoners gathered in a Tennis Court room and decided to make an Oath. The Oath was to never separate until a new constitution was made. Jean-Sylviain Bailly was the leader of the Tennis Court Oath, but was arrested when going to Melun with his friend, and was brought back to Paris. The king did not agree to to this but later gave up and gave in.
  • Woman's March on Versailles (October 5, 1789)
  • In the summer of 1789 commoners and people were having food shortages and weights of taxes. There were marchers that went into a courtyard and began a battle. When it was over people freed the prisoners that were in the Bastille, and took the governor captive. The storming of the Bastille was an unfolding moment for the French revolution. The Bastille held weapons and archives.
  • Flight to Varennes(June 20, 1791)
  • The Declaration of rights served as one of the documents of the French revolution.
  • The women of the family would go to buy bread, but when they arrived there was little bread, and was sold for a high price. Woman began to march through Paris saying or demanding that bread should be sold at an equal/fair price. More people began to join in, while doing so they were able to get weapons, then they arrived at the King's palace and demanded for bread at a low price. The king gave in and accepted selling food at a low price.
  • The flight to Varennes was a fail by the Royal family of trying to escape their house arrest.
