  • Your temperature seems normal. Did you eat anything wrong?
  • Dr. Wilson grabs his tools and then returns back to the room
  • I don’t think so, but I remember I ate a steak that seemed a bit undercooked.
  • Hm. I see. I’m gonna need a stool sample from you. Then I’m gonna send it to the lab and examine it. I'll deliver it to the lab and I’ll reach out to you and tell you the results.
  • How long ago did you eat this particular steak?
  • Kellan delivers his sample to the lab and the result comes back a few weeks later.
  • If I recall, it was about a week ago.
  • Scientist Marcus receives the sample and begins examining it. He uses a microscope.
  • Interesting. This sample seems to have tapeworm eggs in it. I need to run some further tests to confirm my diagnosis.
  • At the lab....
  • The tapeworm is currently inside Kellan's body. It has made its way down through the stomach and into his intestines.
  • Inside the Body
  • As we zoom in closer on the tapeworm, we can notice that it consists of 3 parts. Adult tapeworms are multi-segmented flatworms that lack a digestive tract.
  • The scolex, or head, is used as an anchor. It attaches his head to the inner wall of the intestines and begins to feed off the food being digested.
  • Its neck consists of an unsegmented region with a high regenerative capacity, that if not eliminated, can cause the entire worm to be regenerated
  • Its tail consists of numerous proglottids which each develops hermaphrodite sex organs. Distal proglottids contain eggs in a uterus while mature proglottids contain a single ovary. Whilst this is happening, proglottids break off along with the eggs it contains.
