- Bud Caldwell is an orphan during the Great Depression. He is being moved to a foster home in Flint, Michigan where he is not happy. So he runs away to look for his dad.Chapter 1
- As Bud is running away from his foster home to Grand Rapids he sees a car driving towards him. Bud hides in bushes but the car stops for him and drives him to Grand Rapids.Chapter 12
- Bud arrives at Grand Rapids and walks into Grand Calloway Station. Lefty Lewis leaves him there and bud exclaims to everyone that the man in the room is his father.Chapter 13
- Grand Calloway Station
- The band takes Bud to the Sweet Pea where Bud gets an experience to remember. He starts crying because he feels like he is in a family again.Chapter 14
- Bud goes on his first trip to a concert with the band. He makes many life changing memories while doing so and makes a life changing discovery when going back to Grand Rapids.Chapter 18
- Bud finds out that him and Mr.C have the same rocks and he starts to lecture Bud accusing him of stealing them. Then they find out that Bud's mom was actually Mr.C's daughter and Bud ends up staying with them. Chapter 19
