  • Hey, I'm Jack and today we're going to talk about the electoral college.
  • Now you may be asking what is the electoral college? Well don't worry I'll tell you.
  • To make it simple, you can say the electoral college strengthens a state's electoral power or their standing, based on minority rate
  • The main question people ask is does the electoral college strengthen or harm democracy
  • Usually a question like this is opinionative, but my standing is that it strengthens democracy
  • There's lots of evidence that points to this claim. For example, Texas a state filled with minorities has more voting power than a state like West Virginia.
  • Another form of evidence is the fact that you can lose a popular vote and still win the electoral vote
  • For example, president John Quincy Adams lost his popular vote, but became president after winning his electoral vote
  • Another case where this is happened is with president Rutherford B. Hayes.
  • Anyway these are just the surface of the evidence pointing towards this.
  • Well, that's enough to say for today. I hope you were able to understand my point of view on the electoral college. See you all next time
