King Henry was born on the 28th of June, 1491 in London. He was originally training for a career in the Church, studying in theology, music, languages, poetry, and sports. After the death of his older brother, Henry became next in line for the throne.
King Henry VIII was the King of England in London for 36 years. He separated from the Roman Catholic Church because of a disagreement.
King Henry was angry at the Church because they wouldn't allow him to divorce his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. He was continuously trying to get annulment from the Pope, but still after numerous years, the Pope was unyielding. Henry'e realisations brought him to see that if he would like to remarry, he would have to find an alternative way of divorcing his wife.
Henry and his ministers decided the only solution was to establish the Protestant Church of England which would be separate from the papacy. Protestants did not observe and acknowledge the power of the Pope, so King Henry as the ruler would be free to create his church however he pleased, making himself "Supreme Head of the Church of England", getting his divorce with his current wife, and permitted to marry Anne Boleyn . Henry changed a small amount of the Catholic beliefs in his church, but not many.
After the establishment of the Protestant Church of England, and the pressure from the protestants and Martin Luther, the Roman Catholic Church gave into them, changing some things. The sale of indulgences was abolished and got rid of other things that Martin Luther and King Henry VIII protested against. The catholics formed the counter reformation, using violence and persuasion to to fight back the Protestantism. They wanted to show the protestants the power and authority of the Pope and the importance of the Saints
King Henry VIII and Martin Luther changed wrongs happening in the Roman Catholic Church and put them to a stop, following the beliefs of Jesus Christ.
