  • Stage 1: During the Pre-Transition/ High Stationary stage Canada was just starting to develop. There was a low population growth rate because the birth and death rate were both high. At this time the average life span was extremely short and infant mortality rate was high. This was because many Canadians lacked medicine and knowledge and they didn't know how to treat common things.
  • You did a smart thing coming in with the dense population everyone is getting sick right now. Luckily I know exactly what to proscribe you because of my time in med school.
  • Hey doc, I have been really sick lately there is a cold going around in my apartment building and I need help.
  • Look at these pictures my great grandfather took the city looked so overpopulated and dense. How did people function!?
  • Stage 2: In the Early Transition/ Early Expansion stage during the industrial revolution Canada was starting to progress and become more developed. Canada started to make improvements to healthcare and medicine which decreased death rates, birth rates still remained high. Canada improved quality of life by improving gender equality, technology, education and increased food supply. As well they started to create more jobs for citizens.
  • In The Future
  • I guess we're pretty lucky with are current situation. Better health care, access to food and Canada isn't as populated as it used to be
  • Stage 3: Late Transition/ Late Expansion. Death and birth rate decrease so the population grows at a slower pace. This is heavily related to opportunities for women, the economy and healthcare. With more job opportunities Women started leaving their traditional stay at home roles and joined the workforce.
  • Stage 4: Post Transition/Low Expanding. Currently Canada is in this stage. Canada focuses on equality, diversity and a gradual population. Birth and death rates are low making Canada's population fairly stable. Canada has an excellent economy, education system and healthcare systems. However in this stage it also shows how many Canadians move from rural to urban areas making the major cities more densely populated. But due to the smaller family sizes child survival rates have gone up and death rates have gone down.
  • Stage 5: Declining. Canada has still not yet reached this stage however we can infer that in this stage population growth will decrease due to the death rate becoming higher than the birth rate. This will not happen overnight or even in a year. This change will be seen over multiple generations and is not an immediate effect. The population will decrease because of the aging citizens passing away. On top of that fewer people are having large families or even kids at all, in today's society many adults are career focused instead of family focused.
