  • This is our land to colonize!
  • We were here first!
  • Let us fight side by side!
  • Let me tend to the wounded Washington!
  • Without the natives helping us were done for !
  • Let us build a fort to fight against the French!
  • The French and Indian war started with a disagreement between the British and French. Both wanted the Ohio country and were willing to fight for it. Its land was fertile and with great fur trapping. The British wanted this land so they could expand out from the Eastern seaboard and establish trade routes along the Mississippi River.
  • Although the French arrived first, the native people who tended the land have ownership of the valley. Since they have lived there before both, it's fair that they are the rightful owners. A group called the Iroquois don't want to lose the land, so sided with the British. A majority of natives sided with the French to fight in the war. The English traded them necessities and goods, and the British army grew stronger than the French by alot.
  • After siding with the Iroquois, they attempted to scare off the French in hopes they'd leave. After capturing the wounded french, the leader, known as the half king, killed all of the captives. This enraged the French and now they're returning to get revenge on the English. In such little time, Washington and his soldiers built Fort Necessity to be prepared for the attack.
  • The Albany Plan was the attempt to unify the colonies. They would work stronger together as one unit instead of individuals. This plan failed however, so the Albany Plan did not proceed.
