- It was a nice Saturday morning, Sammy and her mom were going on a little trip to the grocery store. Sammy decided to ride her bike since she had just recently learned how to ride it.
- All of a sudden Sammy tripped over a rock and fell off her bike. As she was about to land she put her arms out to stop herself from hitting the ground, but she didn't land correctly and she heard a "SNAP" followed by extreme pain coming from her wrist.

- Sammy's mom rushed her to the hospital because she realized that her hand began to swell and cause discomfort on Sammy. It turns out Sammy had broken her wrist due to the fall. Her fracture was considered a simple fracture since the bone did not go through the skin.
- "So Sammy actually has a simple fracture on her wrist, her radius was the main bone affected along with slight damage in the ligament, but thankfully it is not severe and won't be hard to heal."
- If the bone would've broken into many pieces or been completely displaced the doctor would've had to do surgery to put the bone back together. But since that wasn't the case with Sammy a cast was placed on her so it could make sure the bone was held in place while it healed. A blood clot would form around the fracture to protect it and cells will begin to work their way around. After a while healing tissue will begin to form around the fracture.
- "So you're going to have to keep this on at all times, that way your bone can heal. it can take anywhere between 4-6 weeks for it to fully heal."
- During Sammy's healing process she had to make sure to continuously move her fingers so they wouldn't become stiff. It was also recommended to keep her hand above heart level as much as possible to prevent pain and swelling. When the incident first occurred her wrist was bruised and it was painful, but now the pain was going away.
- After Sammy finally got her cast removed she had to go through some physical therapy to get her full strength back in her wrist. She was given different tasks like moving her wrist around slowly, or trying to write again, throw a ball, use different tools, etc. If she didn't undergo physical therapy she could experience pain in her wrist, stiffness or even reoccurring nerve damage in the future.
